As safety and regulation is often a worry today in the online gambling industry, Microgaming co-founded COGRA: e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance. Based in the UK, this independent, non-profit organisation ensures operators act responsibly, treat players fairly and ensure winnings are paid out on time. Microgaming also founded the IGC, the Interactive Gaming Council -- which is a forum for addressing issues and advancing the common interests of the industry.

As a founding member of eCOGRA, Microgaming is at the forefront of an initiative focused on setting the highest standards in the gaming industry, and leads in the areas of fair gaming, responsible operator conduct and player protection. Microgaming has been awarded eCOGRA’s Certified Software Seal following a rigorous onsite assessment to ensure that the development, implementation and maintenance of the software is representative of industry best practice standards Microgaming licensees are therefore eligible to apply for the eCOGRA Safe & Fair Seal.

eCOGRA has reviewed almost 150 sites, using software from over 20 leading developers. These include many of the Microgaming casinos, 888's Casino-On-Net; almost thirty poker site members, including Microgaming's poker sites, 888's Pacific Poker and certain sites that are members of the Ongame network owned by Bwin. They have also certified various Sportsbooks, Online Bingo Halls and Mobile Game sites. eCOGRA is partially funded by its software supplier members.
